Black plastic is very sturdy--looks like it will last forever. Handle is 4 inches long, 1.75 inches wide at the ends, 1.5 inches wide in the center. Weighs almost 1 lb. Jingles are loud, bright. I like hitting the inner circle with the pad of my hand, and then stroking the top circle with my fingers as I pull the tambourine away--gives an extra little "twrrr".

This is a very nice tambourine. I am very excited and getting my praise on for the Lord. This will bless you and my 4-year old son would like one as well.

And it has been big time fun for me to jump around with it and Bang it as long as you want.

The product is a-ok and Amazon is, of course, just fine... but Musician's Friend really dropped the ball, more than once, with this order. First taking a very long time to confirm the order. Then, extensive and repeated delays in shipment which resulted in my having to cancel the order. Then, two weeks after THAT point, shipping the item anyway - forcing me to have to get on the phone (again) to get them to contact UPS for a delivery intercept. It was just a big mess all around for such a simple order of a single item. I won't be ordering anything to be fulfilled by Musician's Friend and I recommend that you don't either.

These tambourines are great for the basic use...very sturdy. You really can't argue with the price. I've seen some tambourines and the price tag on them and have to wonder where did the twenty dollars go?
If you simply want to enjoy the music, this is your best bet.
