3 out of 5 stars No way to learn songs...   November 23, 2008
Okay so this plays five notes right... But which ones? We have no idea because nothing says what notes correspond to the keys. Not only that but it doesn't come with anything that says how to play any songs like some do. For example, the Puppy Tunes shows which colors to press in order to play a few bars of a few songs. Nothing like that with this.

The other thing I don't like is that there are colorful lights that flash when songs are played or keys are pressed. For each note played, a light will light up. That in itself doesn't bother me but the color of the lights doesn't correspond to the color of the keys... How does that make any sense?

Also, it doesn't exactly "count" anything - It will just say the number of the key you pressed and play a piece of a song.

I will say though that I do like all the positive things that the other reviewers have mentioned. This does entertain my 8 month old daughter for about five to ten minutes at a time (sometimes a little longer) before she moves on to something else and it's not annoying to listen to at all. It actually sounds quite nice.

Overall it's good if don't care about your kids really learning how to play the piano and you just want something that you can hear over and over without going nuts.

5 out of 5 stars My 7 month old son loves this piano!!   October 31, 2008

This is a great interactive toy for babies who love music.....Especially when they are learning to sit up on their own and good for tummy time too. It lights up and has 3 different play modes, sounds, and languages. It's not too loud, holds thier attention span, teaches them to push the buttons to get it to play, and is small so it can go to Grandma's for a weekend. My son loves the little spinner with the beads too. One thing you should know is, if your child is strong or plays rough and is active as mine,(he is only 7 months old and a big boy!) the piano is hard plastic with some weight to it and well, you get the idea!

5 out of 5 stars Yay! A toy that intrigues the baby without driving the parent nuts.   October 22, 2008

My 10 month old likes high stimulus, so she seems to get bored with her toys quickly and doesn't think much of toys that don't DO something. This piano has a lot going on and so far it's been enough to keep her entertained better than any other toy.

Primarily I like its design. The 'composer' function doesn't just play one song quickly, repeatedly and loudly as most piano toys with some kind of 'demo' function do. When the baby hits a key, it plays one phrase. The next time a key is pressed gets another musical phrase. It's pleasant to listen to, you aren't left with one short tune running through your head and there's seven different melodies. In short, it seems like someone put some thought into what would make a piano toy fun and interesting to play with. It doesn't feel like it's been dumbed down on the assumption that parents don't care and babies don't know the difference.
