Product Description Life-Altering Secrets from Today’s Cutting-Edge Doctors and the #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of Ageless
Today’s most trusted advocate of antiaging medicine, Suzanne Somers, deepens her commitment to helping people lead healthier, happier lives by opening their eyes to cutting-edge, proven remedies and preventative care that most doctors just aren’t talking about with patients: longevity medicine and the more progressive study of bioidentical hormones.
As we age, certain hormones diminish, creating an imbalance that can set off everything from perimenopause to cancer, beginning as early as our thirties. This hormonal imbalance is causing many to feel depressed, anxious, fatigued, sexless, sleepless, and ultimately ill, sometimes even terminally. What’s more, Somers and twenty doctors in the field of antiaging medicine argue that the processed chemicals in foods and pharmaceuticals we ply ourselves with are actually slowly eroding our bodies and minds. So we’re getting slammed twice. From estrogen dominance to deceptive thyroid problems, people are suffering, and most don’t have access to the treatment they truly need to get better and thrive . . . until now.
Breakthrough explores cutting-edge science and delivers smart, proactive advice on the newest treatments for breakthrough health and longevity.
In addition to being a pioneer in a rapidly growing health field, Somers is a passionate, caring individual whose own life was derailed by disease and brought back to unimaginable, feel good heights that she wants you, too, to experience.

Fabulous New Medicine November 23, 2008 This book is fascinating! It opens up a whole new way to look at what we put in our mouths and how we view our symptoms. I feel it's a must-read for anyone wanting optimum health in today's toxic world.
Didn't hit me November 23, 2008 Too wordy, not reader friendly, kind of condesending. Didn't get through the forward. Skipped around a bit but got very little "breakthrough" information. I do not recommend this book.
Wow am I glad I found this book! November 23, 2008 This is exceptionally written with a lot of really good information. I have flagged and highlighted almost every page. I now feel that I have an awesome tool to help me become healthier. Thank you Suzanne!!
Breakthrough November 18, 2008 This is a serious reference book for those interested in leading edge alternative medicine. Although one might not pair up Suzanne Sommers with serious medicine-she has assembled an impressive team of physicians with sound advice.
a great book to study for health issues November 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I saw Suzanne Somers being interviewed on a talk show about her new book, "Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness." The one thing that she said on the show that really caught my attention was about this vitamin called aldosterone, which one doctor says can heal loss of hearing. I was so hopeful, so I had my daughter buy the book for me. We found out that the vitamin-- or whatever it is --is a mystery ingredient. My daughter looked it up on the internet and couldn't find much about it. That part was a big disappointment, but I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the book overall.
Her list of eight steps are pretty basic in promoting good health: 1. Detox the chemicals out of your body 2. Replace your hormones naturally 3. Maintain a healthy GI tract 4. Avoid taking as many pharmaceuticals as possible 5. Supplement your diet with vitamins and minerals 6. Exercise regularly 7. Avoid chemicals in your home. Clean green. 8. Get the proper sleep. More and more studies show this to be very very important.
Some other things I learned is to take Q-10 if you are taking Lipitor, which I take. Another is to take some form of hydrochloric acid to prevent stomach problems.
One day not long ago I noticed that one-third of my eyebrows on the ends had disappeared. When I read about that in the book, I was so surprised. It means you have or have had thyroid problems. I take medicine for my thyroid.
I guess another thing that I wanted to know was if Suzanne wrote the book herself. You know that famous people hire ghost writers. Both my son and daughter looked all through to book to find this out for me, but we all decided that she did write the book.
Mainly the book is about alternative medicine. Suzanne questions these doctors in California and they answer her questions. The book is what they told her, plus she makes a major study of health issues. That's why she looks so good (and maybe a little plastic surgery--why not? If I had the money, I would have some, too!).
