Product Description Who's hungry? EVERYONE. Who has time to cook? NO ONE. Dig out the slow cooker. Add a second and a third if you wish. Fill one with main-dish fixins and the others with go-alongs. Do it in the morning--or between work and after-school events. Come home to richly-flavored, ready-to-serve food. Slow cookers are having a comeback. With good reason. They are friends on a day of running errands. They allow easy entertaining with no last-minute preparation. And vegetarians won't find a better way to work with dried beans. Slow cookers are gentle with the food budget--less expensive ingredients flourish in their slow, moist heat. Fix-It and Forget-It offers the range of recipes slow cookers do well: Appetizers and Snacks, Soups and Stews, Main Dishes (with and without meat), Vegetables and Go-Alongs, Desserts and Beverages. Bring an element of simplicity--and quality--to your pressured life! Let your slow cooker work for you.

what's not to like here? November 22, 2008 This is the handiest book! I've loaned it to a neighbor for a recipe she tasted and by the time I got it back she had ordered her own copy. Home recipes are great.
Great shape November 16, 2008 I was amazed as I always am when I buy used books. The book was in great shape and looked brand new. Would suggest this to everyone.Thanks.
I've been using crock pots for 16 years and LOVE this book November 3, 2008 I have been using crock pots for over 16 years and this book is by far the best book ever (aside from the discontinued "One Pot Meals"). Usually I like cook books with pretty photos and slick glossies (even though I know they don't always have the best recipes).
This book doesn't have any of that...what it *does* have is about 12 different pot roast recipes, 5-6 oatmeal recipes, 3-5 bread pudding varieties, etc. etc. Every recipe has about 4-12 different versions. It's fantastic because you can mix and match recipes based on what you have already in your larder.
There is a good mix of fresh and canned ingredient listings in the recipes. I don't like recipe books that are completely 'add a can of this and a can of that and then heat for 4 hours' (I can do that in the oven for 30 minutes) - but they are useful for dips and in a pinch.
My faves are the horseradish roast beef, the oatmeal bake (it says bake for 4 hours at low, but I do it for 2 at high...yummy), and the raisin bread (I use a whole grain raisin bread and 1/2 the raisins). Sorry I don't have the book in front of me or I'd include page numbers and specific recipe names.
This book is a great buy and worth the money. You won't have one or two items out of this book that are good...there will be many!
easy cooking October 31, 2008 like this book. especially the chili for twenty. I have never been a chili lover but this is really good. There are a lot of receipes that seem easy and do not take much time. great for the busy mom.
