Comfortable Set, but a few needed improvements November 30, 2008 This keyboard and mouse are a good investment. Everything works fine on mine except the volume buttons. For some reason the volume buttons do not work on mine, it could be a problem with the Operating System (XP) and the Keyboard. It might work on Vista though. Even with the latest drivers my volume keys do not work, but the mute button does; oh well, it is a good keyboard and mouse. I recommend it for those looking for soft keys to type on.
Good performance at a decent price November 24, 2008 I purchased this system based on two criteria: 1. Previous experience with it in a work environment 2. Price
The set up process is simple. Load the driver CD, select your keyboard and mouse models and off you go. The software loaded in less than a couple of minutes. Plug the receiver into a USB port. As soon as I did that the keyboard and mouse were recognized and ready to use. Simple!
Quality met my expectations as I had experience with this exact set up in my office. Keyboard is comfortable with good sized keys that were better placed than the wired keyboard it replaced.
The mouse is nice but feels a bit awkward in my hand. I think it is just smaller than the ones I am used to. I do have two criticisms of the mouse. First, the scroll wheel feels artificially heavy. As odd as it sounds it takes effort to scroll with the wheel. Again, nothing that I haven't been able to live with but odd all the same. The other issue is the button on the right edge of the mouse. In its standard configuration the button activates the magnifier. I find that it is far too easy to accidentally activate the magnifier. So, then you must click again to deactivate. To correct this I simply configured nothing to happen when I click the button. An inconvenience but again noting that would put me off of making this purchase.
As for range and latency I have had no issues whatsoever with latency or range. I do know from my experience that the effective range of the mouse and receiver is about 4 feet. If the mouse and keyboard are within three feet of the receiver you won't have any issues.
Pros: Price Fast easy set up quality look and feel
Cons: Questionable mouse ergonomics
Great for long times at the computer November 23, 2008 I would never go back to wired keyboard or mouse again. With being is school, I use my keyboard and mouse a lot. With not having wires to worry about I can move them around so much more easier than I could the wired ones. Microsoft is a name I can trust and so can you.
DESKTOP LASER 3000 Wireless keyboard and mouse August 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased it yesterday 8/13/08 Very dissappointed with both keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is supposed to have lights, it doen't. It relies on an icon that lights on the lower left hand side of the display. Manual is not included. This means to look up something in "help", you must go to programs, look for help, go through the list or search and when found you will need to print it out.
The mouse is far worse! The range is about four feet. Using the default mouse setup, if the magnifier is selected the side button is used call it up. It does not turn off readily because the button and contacts are poorly designed. In my opionion the entire mouse is poorly designed with no tactile feel to the buttons. One very annoying issue is when using the mouse your hand and thumb will rest very close if not on the side buttons. This can cause an unwanted activation of whatever the button is assigned to do. Such as accidently turning on the magnifier and worse, turning it off. The buttons are so sensitive that touching it will cause it to work. It goes back to the store today!
Good combo for the price August 5, 2008 This is a good mouse/keyboard combo. They are well made, and the keyboard has a great feel to it. The mouse is responsive, and feels very comfortable. The only disappointment that I have with this set is that the space bar feels a little cheap. Overall, good bang for the buck.
